Code of Conduct and Ethical Guidelines
As members, volunteers, teachers, mentors, and participants of CALL (Canadian Association of the Last Luminary), we are committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct, ethics, and respect. These guidelines are designed to create a harmonious, inclusive, and respectful environment within CALL. We believe that adhering to these principles is essential to achieving our mission and vision.
1. Respect for All
1.1 Respect for Diversity
We value and respect the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs of our community members. Discrimination or prejudice of any kind, including but not limited to race, religion, gender, age, or disability, will not be tolerated.
1.2 Respect for Others’ Opinions
We encourage open and constructive dialogue. It is acceptable to have different opinions and viewpoints, but we must express them respectfully and considerately, without resorting to personal attacks or offensive language.
2. Integrity and Honesty
2.1 Honesty and Transparency
We are committed to transparency and honesty in our interactions. Members are expected to provide accurate information and be transparent about their intentions and actions.
2.2 Confidentiality
We respect the confidentiality of personal and sensitive information shared within the organization. Personal information shared in confidence should not be disclosed without explicit permission.
3. Professionalism
3.1 Professional Conduct
We maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions, whether within CALL or with external partners and stakeholders.
3.2 Conflict Resolution
In the event of a conflict or disagreement, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any aggressive behavior within CALL, including but not limited to verbal and physical aggression.
4. Accountability
4.1 Accountability for Actions
We take responsibility for our actions and decisions within CALL. If mistakes are made, we acknowledge them and work towards rectification.
4.2 Adherence to Organizational Policies
Members are expected to adhere to the policies and procedures outlined by CALL, including educational guidelines, committee duties, and ethical standards.
5. Inclusivity and Support
5.1 Inclusivity
We actively work to create an inclusive environment where all members feel welcome and valued. We are committed to bridging cultural and language barriers to ensure full participation.
5.2 Supportive Community
We support each other in our personal and professional growth. We actively mentor and guide one another, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement.
6. No Smoking Policy
We maintain a strict No Smoking policy in all CALL educational programs, including online or in-person sessions, team meetings, and extracurricular activities.
7. Observing Islamic Laws Based on the Twelver Shia School
All members of CALL are expected to observe Islamic law based on the Twelver Shia school in CALL programs, classes, and events. This includes the proper dress code for ladies and gentlemen.
8. Reporting Violations
Any member who observes or experiences a violation of these guidelines is encouraged to report it to the appropriate authority within CALL. Reports will be treated with confidentiality and will be thoroughly investigated.
9. Prohibition of Political Activities Under CALL’s Name
Members and volunteers are prohibited from any political activities within the CALL community, including but not limited to classes, meetings, and events. Political activities include speaking and acting for or against any state or party.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for any member supporting or promoting groups or states designated as extremists or terrorists under Canadian laws.
10. Consequences of Violations
The President has the authority to suspend a member from Class A, effective immediately, for not meeting the code of conduct.
An Ethics Committee is established to assess all reported cases of divergence from the code of conduct.
Violations of this Code of Conduct and Ethical Guidelines may result in corrective action or disciplinary measures, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. These measures may include warnings, suspension, or expulsion from CALL activities or membership.
A procedural fairness letter (notice of removal) should be sent to any person facing removal.
